Founded in 2022, The Football Lab has rapidly grown into one of Colombo's premier football academies, a home for players aged 3 to 18, on and off the pitch.
Built one session at a time.
The Football Lab didn’t begin with a strategy deck. It began with a small group of girls, a football pitch, and the belief that the game could give kids something bigger than the game itself: confidence, friendships, and a place to belong.
When our first school programme didn’t grow the way we’d hoped, we didn’t walk away. We rethought it. That rethink became the Lil Champs programme. Three kids turned up to the first session. Eighteen turned up the next week.
Today The Football Lab runs across multiple grounds in Colombo, working with hundreds of young players and a growing list of partners. One programme, one age group, one ground at a time, built around the simple promise that every child gets to enjoy the game while genuinely getting better at it.

At The Football Lab, we believe every child deserves a place where they feel welcome, pushed to grow, and proud of who they are. We teach the game, but we also help young players build the kind of habits and mindset that stay with them long after they leave the pitch.
The four rules we don't bend.
We coach. We don't babysit. Every minute on the pitch has a learning objective and a measurable outcome.
School, gender, ability: none of it decides who plays. Talent, attitude, and turning up do.
Win or lose, we ask the same questions on Monday. Did you stick to your role? Did you take risks? Did you learn?
